[Solved] Failed weekly updates (11.0.31) to NEW11.0 in CAELinux2011

Hello,

I am trying to update CAELinux2011's CA_11.0 to the latest weekly updates using:

# 1. Make a copy of the original release version
sudo cp -ax /opt/aster110 /opt/aster11X
sudo mv /opt/aster11X/NEW11.0 /opt/aster11X/NEW11.X

# 2. Modify the config.txt file suitably
sudo cp /opt/aster11X/NEW11.X/config.txt /opt/aster11X/NEW11.X/config.txt.orig
sudo sed --in-place -e 's/NEW11.0/NEW11.X/g' /opt/aster11X/NEW11.X/config.txt

# 3. Modify the profile.sh file suitably
sudo cp /opt/aster11X/NEW11.X/profile.sh /opt/aster11X/NEW11.X/profile.sh.orig
sudo sed --in-place -e 's/aster110/aster11X/g' /opt/aster11X/NEW11.X/profile.sh

# 4. Update CodeAster to the latest weeekly release using:
sudo /opt/aster11X/bin/as_run --auto_update --nolocal --vers=NEW11.X
# FAILED !!!

# 5. Debug the compilation
sudo /opt/aster11X/bin/as_run -g --vers=NEW11.X --make > /tmp/output_NEW11.X 2> /tmp/error_NEW11.X

But it has failed.  My guess is one or more libraries have not been linked, but I cannot figure out which one(s).  Hopefully my procedure above is not flawed.  I realize that I am duplicating the entire /opt/aster11X directory, but I am trying to keep a functional version completely untouched.  Can somebody help me please?  The config.txt, profile.sh & error files are attached.  Thanks.

Regards, JMB

Try:

as_run --make clean --vers=NEW11.X

And then:

as_run --make --vers=NEW11.X

Code_Aster release : unstable on (Ubuntu Precise Pangolin 12.04 64 bits) - GNU + Intel

Code_Aster. What else ?

You have mixed everything. You should only duplicate the NEW11.0 folder in aster110 to a NEW11.X folder (and not the whole aster110 directory which would be equivalent to cloning an Aster install).
After that you will need to update the config.txt to point to NEW11.X instead of NEW11.0.

Hello TdS,

I realize exactly what I did.  Yes, I AM CLONING an aster install.  Here is why.  In my experience I found that if I use the method you recommend, then ASTK, catalogs and various other things get updated.  This sometimes causes numerous incompatibility problems.  CodeAster's update process is NOT robust enough yet, for me to take that risk.  As I stated earlier, my purpose it to keep /opt/aster110/ untouched.  Thank you for your comments, though.

Regards, JMB
