[maybe? SOLVED]trouble launching astk from the container

hello

after  a few tens of hours i have finally been able to install salome_meca in a singularity container
when launching salo_meca i have the usual [horrible] graphical window output

but what interest me here is how to run astk

if a do
singularity run  -B /dedalus salome_meca-lgpl-2021.0.0-1-20210811-scibian-9.sif shell
if i can launch nautilus for example
if i launch astk

Singularity> astk
Singularity> <INFO> Optional module not found : tkpng
       searched in /opt/salome_meca/Salome-V2021-s9/tools/Code_aster_frontend-2021001/lib/astk/not_defined
<INFO> ASTK version 2021.0.final

<INFO> Previous configuration file saved as config_serveurs.old
<INFO> Update option classe. Authorized values :
<INFO> Updating AGLA configuration...
<INFO> The development machine - isn't in
the available servers list.

and when trying to launch a saved profile astk does not do much

in addition when i try to modify the server configuration in the menu Configuration>Serveurs and Delete to creat a new one
i get a massage bos saying

This server and its options will be deleted
You couldn't confirm ?

what does mean that sentence?

looking in the config_serveurs i can see 3 defined severs: localhost, Aster5 and Eole

i am completely lost
what has to be done to launch astk from the singularity container

Re: [maybe? SOLVED]trouble launching astk from the container

Dear jean pierre aubry,

If I have understood your question correctly and if you don't mind using mouse (I mean, if you are OK without CLI ) then the easiest way is the following:
After launching Salome-meca:
Main Menu > Tools > Plugins > code_aster > Run astk

Hope this helps.

I take this opportunity to express my sincere gratefulness to you for your book, which you have presented FREE to the CA community, in addition to many other guidance to many users in the forum.

Warm regards

Sukumar

Re: [maybe? SOLVED]trouble launching astk from the container

hello Sukumar

thanks for your kind comments about my book and my contributions to this forum

i am very sad about the way code_aster is taking right now

regarding the astk problem using your hint produces exactly the same output as the CLI
here is the content of the massage window in astk

can't read "astk::profil(batch)": no such element in array
can't read "astk::profil(batch)": no such element in array
    while executing
"lance_calcul $astk::profil(batch)"
    (procedure "go_calcul" line 25)
    invoked from within
"go_calcul "
    invoked from within
".fen.satellite.bas.go invoke"
    ("uplevel" body line 1)
    invoked from within
"uplevel #0 [list $w invoke]"
    (procedure "tk::ButtonUp" line 22)
    invoked from within
"tk::ButtonUp .fen.satellite.bas.go"
    (command bound to event)

are you able to run astk this way yourself

Re: [maybe? SOLVED]trouble launching astk from the container

Dear jeanpierreaubry,

Thanks for your reply.

I can understand your feelings about present pack of Code-Aster. However, I do believe that for an average user, particularly in the beginning, Salome-Meca bundle with Aster-Study interface is much more user friendly and encouraging.  I am saying this based on my experience with my students using SM/Code-Aster for their research works. And, I think,  this might help in more wider use of this powerful software by the engineers.

Yes, I have run astk in this manner, as well as "as_run" in the Salome-shell session using the menu in the container, in software-rendering mode. Of course there are glitches in the graphic windows at the beginning as is experienced by many users without GPUs. I have also used the container with mpi version available at

https_COLON_//cloud.sylabs.io/library/emefff/collection/code-aster-mpi-in-singularity-of-sm2021

, both in astk mode and as_run mode.

I must indicate here that, for various reasons, I am still on an Ubuntu 18.04 machine. I did not get the terminal outputs as shown by you, in my system while using the container.

So, at present, I am unable to comment on the problems you are facing. Also, I have never used Open-Suse.

I hope some one more knowledgeable than me replies here about the problems you mentioned. And I believe, users here expect more active help from the developers on such issues.

With warm regards

Sukumar

Re: [maybe? SOLVED]trouble launching astk from the container

hello

i have in the end been able to run astk in a salome_meca 2021 shell
here is what i did
supposing salome_meca is installed in a container

run salome_meca shell

singularity run -B /dedalus salome_meca-lgpl-2021.1.0-1-20220405-scibian-9.sif shell

-B /dedalus is to bind and have access to my working directory

within this shell at the prompt

Singularity> astk --rcdir /home/dedalus/astkrc152

--rcdir /home/dedalus/astkrc152 is to specify an astkrc configuration dir
here i choose the one i use for code_aster version 15.2

from then i am able to navigate in my working dir (this is extremely slow)
locate a .astk file and run it
after a rather longish time the problem gets solved at a normal speed
and the result files created in the working dir

thanks to all  who tried to help me in this matter
and thanks to the code_aster team for their intense involvement
