Crack modelling and simulation

Hello,

I am very new in this forum and I think I have a very simple question but I can't answer it by myself. I have to work on a crack model for my university project and I don't know how to solve the following error message:

Translated into Englisch:

! The meshs of the crack tip must be of the segment type (SEG2 or SEG3). !

What does SEG2 or SEG3 mean? What can I do to solve the problem. I put the hdf file in the attachment.

if you use this (see attached)
in GROUP_MA_FISS you must insert a meshed surface
in GROUP_MA_FOND you must insert the surface's meshed perimeter

mesh0 is the mesh for the box and mesh3 should be the surface of the crack. I wanted to generate the crack like in the attached photo

Ok thank you, that is good to know. I used a mesh surface in GROUP_MA_FISS but I still got the error. I think that I want to use a surface means that I have a SEG2 but why do I get this error message?
Do you have an idea how to solve this?

for curiosity, do you use the perimeter of the surface for define the fond of the fissure ??

I use the hole surface. I defined three points and a curve within these three points. I closed the curve to a wire and defined a face. I meshed the face and use it as 2D element for the fond of the fissure.

Or can somebody please give me an example how to define a crack. So that I can see what I have to do and maybe find my mistake

Hello,
If you dont know what this mean I think you are not able to create such complicate analysis like the crack simulation is. The error tells you that the crack must be prepared from elements of line type with 2 or 3 nodes.

is not very problematic

you can simulate a wedge into a fissure :-)
