Problem on Salome 2019.0.3 On VM Ubuntu 18.04.6

Hi,

I've created a VM on VirtualBox 6.1. It's an Ubuntu 64bits 18.04.6 LTS machine. My computer is composed by a Ryzen 7 (5000 series), a NVidia RTX 3050 and 32 Go RAM. I installed Additional settings from VBoxAddition. Then, I installed SalomeMeca 2019.0.3 following this tutorial : "code-aster.org/IMG/pdf/sm2019_ubuntu18_install . pdf". It explains how to automatically install SM2019 on Ubuntu 18.04 with graphical updates.
My problem appears when I'm in SMESH module, I cannot display nodes. I mean, I can switch to "Display Mode Nodes" but I can't see them at all. I even tried to modify préférences but it does not work. If I select nodes to put them in group of nodes I don't see them neither.

Do you have any hints or tips to solve my problem ?

Thanks you for your help.

PS : I tried to install Salome 2020 on the same machine in order so see if it's a problem version following the same install pattern than 2019 version. But I have a Segmentation Violation at Adress : 8 when i try to run Salome (I used "sudo" to make install).

Re: Problem on Salome 2019.0.3 On VM Ubuntu 18.04.6

Hi there,

The nodes visualisation issue from within the VM is a known issue, it is related to incompatible GL drivers.

Did you try the 2020 using the container version ?

You can run a singularity container from the VM, GL settings have been tweaked to allow a fallback software rendering mode if GPU is not available.

Hi,

Thanks for your answer, no I did not try this possibility, I just tried to install the version 2020 via the recommanded way. How can I install Salome from container ? I would like to try this.

Thanks a lot for this advice
