Hi everyone,
I would like to produce structured mesh including prism and hex elements. I thought that if I mesh surface correctly and then used 3D extrusion meshing algorithm it will work. It doesn't.
Can somebody help solving this meshing problem? Any ideas?
Thank you.

Hello.
I have just opened your file... What I suggest, is to produce a 2D mesh on the intermediate surface. To obtain the intermediate surface you have to work on the geometry, then mesh it.
In order to further simplify te job, you can extract a single segment of the whole tube to mesh, then to replicate by copying it. Then merge nodes and elements...
Another very simple option: try meshing the solid by netgen 1D-2D-3D algorithm, with quadrangle option. It usually produces very good meshes.

In the attachment a view of a mesh produced by NETGEN 1D-2D-3D with the following netgen poarameters: Max size: 2, min size 0.1, fine, Limit size by surface curvature, Quad dominated, Optimize.
You can improve changing the size...
