Diagnostic Job: <S>_ERROR

My goal is to perform a linear static analysis on a piece of tubing. The tubing flattens out at the end, to form a valve - air is supposed to flow one way but be prevented from flowing back. Therefore the valve flattens completely at the end if the pressure outside the tube is greater than inside, ensuring that it is sealed.

Therefore we can assume the pressure inside the tube is constant at around 1500 Pa below the atmospheric pressure acting on the outside of the tube. The pressure difference between the inside and outside is supposed to cause the end of the pipe (flattened end) to deflect. I want to determine this deflection and nothing else.

I set the code up and tried to run it but it showed the <S> error. The 'RunCase_1' circle is orange and I understand this means the error isn't that serious? I am relatively new to Code_Aster so I am not sure what I have done wrong, I'd really appreciate getting some guidance on this.

I have attached a zip file of the command file, log file and RunCase_1.

Re: Diagnostic Job: <S>_ERROR

Hello,

As suggested by M. Aubry, the message file is really helpful.
You did not provide a mesh, but from what I read it is composed of 2D elements, you don't have 3D elements right?
If this is the case you should also look for other "MODELISATION", because "3D" is not adapted in that case.

Regards,
Manon

Re: Diagnostic Job: <S>_ERROR

Thanks a lot - the message file really helps a lot and I found the error.

The problem is a 3D one - I incorrectly selected 2D elements instead of 3D.

Now I'm getting an error saying this:

<S> Exception utilisateur levee mais pas interceptee.        !
   ! Les bases sont fermees.                                      !
   ! Type de l'exception : error                                  !
   !                                                              !
   !  le GROUP_MA  volume  ne fait pas partie du maillage :  mesh

I created a group of the elements in geometry and then created a volume group in mesh too. Which I then created in the model:
mesh = MODI_MAILLAGE(
  MAILLAGE=mesh,
  ORIE_PEAU_3D=(_F(
      GROUP_MA=('outer', )
    ), _F(
      GROUP_MA=('volume', )
    ))
)

So I don't understand why the error is occurring. I'd appreciate a little more help on this

Re: Diagnostic Job: <S>_ERROR

all is said in the message

le GROUP_MA  volume  ne fait pas partie du maillage :  mesh

probably you believe you created it but you obviously did not!!!!!!

Re: Diagnostic Job: <S>_ERROR

Thanks for the help Jean Pierre, I really appreciate it.

I think I've made progress but I came across a new error. From what I understand in the message file there is an encoding file missing in the Code_Aster directory.

>>> 2019/08/08-03:54:05.707  [local_shell@/home/chad/salome_meca/V2017.0.2/tools/Code_aster_frontend-20170/lib/python2.7/site-packages/asrun/system.py:333]
    ERROR : iret = 34304
    +++ STANDARD OUTPUT:
    Fatal Python error: Py_Initialize: Unable to get the locale encoding
    ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'encodings'

I'd really appreciate your advice on this

Re: Diagnostic Job: <S>_ERROR

humm i do not believe this message of salome_meca
the real thing is in the message file
<I>_EXIT_CODE = 136
most likely a numeric problem
or maybe a memory problem related to the size of the mesh and the virtualbox
please post the mesh and command file

Re: Diagnostic Job: <S>_ERROR

Hi Jean,

Apologies for not getting back to you.

The mesh seems to be ok, except for a few really skew elements.

Attached the zip file.

Thanks,
Chad

Re: Diagnostic Job: <S>_ERROR

The mesh file is too big, even when zipped to place upload.

Hi,
You can upload it somewhere, such as Dropbox and share the link here.
