Hi everyone.
I have just started using salome-meca.
I would like to know the best way to create detailed 2D drawings (multi-view projections) of parts created in geometry using salome-meca.

Hi,
Salome-Meca platform is primarily meant for model geometry development and mesh preparation subsequently to be used for FE analysis (normally in code-aster, people have also used it for analysis in CalculiX). So this should not be confused with a CA drafting or CAD platform.
If you want free drafting/ CAD modeller you can try QCAD (for 2D, https://qcad.org/en/ ) and FreeCAD (https://www.freecadweb.org) for 2D and 3D modelling. FreeCAD has arch and sketch workbenches (in addition to many others) which may fulfil your requirement. There are beautiful tutorials in youtube and other places for these applications.
For usage of SALOME-MECA/Code-Aster for FEA, you may refer to J.P. Aubry's book (https://www.code-aster.org/forum2/viewt … p?id=19189) which is freely available. For copyrighted book you may look (http://www.engineering.moonish.biz/stor … review.pdf).
Hope this helps.
Good luck.

Hey sb 1966
Actually I have already created dome thing on salome-meca. So the software's that you have mention, do they reqire me to recreate the entire geometry once again?

Hi,
It is difficult to reply as you have not indicated your purpose.
If you intend to do some Finite Element simulation, then your selection of software (Salome-Meca) is OK. But in that case I fail to understand the need for multiview projections. Different views are usually needed during post-processing for which you can use Paravis module (or gmsh, not included in Salome-Meca).
On the other hand if you want to have CAD drawings for production purposes (such as architectural) or construction drawings (such as lay out / or structural drawings) you should try the softwares I already mentioned. I repeat from my last post - "So this should not be confused with a CA drafting or CAD platform."
Hope this clarify.

Thanks SB
Actually I had designed one test rig (for testing solar collectors) now I needed its drawing for publishing the same. I have done the stress test on it and they were successful.
I was just looking for a way to get the drawings (production purpose) as I thought it might have some feature similar to catia where you can directly generate drawings.

Hi,
Nice to know about your project. I think for publication drawings you may use Freecad. Geometry creation should not take long in this, after you familiarize yourself. Youtube may be of great help in this.
Congrats and good luck.

No just export it as .STEP and import into FreeCAD, then you can use the Drawing Workbench to place projections, sections, etc...
FreeCAD is a nice program that can handle your problem easily.

Hey Humberto
Even I figured it out later. But still thanks to SB i learnt a new software. And I find FreeCAD very productive.
Thanks any ways.

I agree with Humberto.
You should export your 3D model in STEP format and open it from FreeCAD.
