[SOLVED] Result file with xxxD+yy numbers

Hello everybody,
I'm having results with this format: xxxD+yy. I would like to have xxxE+yy, is it possible in the IMPR_RESU command?
I wrote in my .comm file:
"
mode = MODE_ITER_SIMULT( MATR_A=RIGIDITE,
                                 MATR_B=MASSE,
                                             CALC_FREQ=_F(
                                                                        OPTION='BANDE',
                                                                        FREQ=(-1.0,100.0,),
                                                                       ),
                                            VERI_MODE=_F(SEUIL=1E-04,),
                                           );

IMPR_RESU(MODELE=modl,
                UNITE=60,
                    FORMAT='RESULTAT',
                    RESU=(_F(RESULTAT=mode,
                                     TOUT_CHAM='NON',
                             NUME_MODE = 7,
                                     NOM_PARA='FREQ',
                                    ),
                       ),
             );
"

I can't find the answer in the documentation sad

Thanks for your help.

Pierre P.

Sorry, I've never seen a numer in format xxxD+yy instead of xxxE+yy

Do you have an idea of the cause of this number format? Can you setup a little test case to reproduce the issue?

Bye
Andrea

Re: [SOLVED] Result file with xxxD+yy numbers

Hi Andrea,

I have no idea for the cause of this format number, it happens when i ask for the printing of frequencies ( results of my dynamic analysis ).
I found some exemples of this format in the  search section of the website by searching with this keyword: "D+01", but there is no answer concerning the reason of this format.

I'll put a test case soon (this week).

Thank you by the way, bye

Pierre

Re: [SOLVED] Result file with xxxD+yy numbers

xxxD+yyy is Fortran double precision output in stead of single precision xxxE+yy. On why this format is used here I have no clue.

Hi everybody,

This is a little test case that shows this format in the file 'plaque.mfrq'.

Re: [SOLVED] Result file with xxxD+yy numbers

Hi all

This format xxxD+yy is define in the FORTRAN Standard since FORTRAN IV (1962) for the representation of real numbers in double precision as REAL*8 (64 bits).
Its permit to verify any truncation of the  real value after numerical operations. The format E+yy is, in general, limited to 7 significant digits of the mantissa xxx and the format D+yy  give naturally 15 or 16 significant digits for xxx and sometimes 3 digits for the exponent yyy.

The choice of  xxxE+yy or xxxD+yy is made by the FORTRAN compiler and is a consequence of the definition of real variables. For Code_Aster all the real variable are defined systematically as DOUBLE PRECISION or REAL*8, for a better quality of the results with a good computer (64 bits).

Re: [SOLVED] Result file with xxxD+yy numbers

All right i get it!
So it seems like it can't be modified, but it's no big deal.

Thank you everybody for your answers, i change the subject as 'solved'.

Have a nice day!
