Objective:
This course offers a comprehensive introduction to fracture mechanics as applied to finite element analysis, covering both the theoretical foundations (linear, non-linear and advanced elastic approaches) and their practical application using code_aster and Salome-Méca. It covers tools for meshing defects (Bloc Fissure, Zcracks, MORSE, etc.) as well as methods for calculating characteristic fracture parameters, illustrated through practical exercises in 2D and 3D. Particular emphasis is placed on best practice in implementation to ensure the quality of results, particularly in the context of AIP-classified studies.
