In Code_Aster, the three main types of non-linearities are:

  • Non-linearity related to the behavior of the material (eg plastic);
  • Non-linearity related to the geometry (for example in large displacements);
  • Non-linearity related to contact-friction.

Three new how-to documents papers have been published to assist the user in these studies:

U2.04.01 Recommendations for use of STAT_NON_LINE which provides an overview of these nonlinear issues.

U2.04.02 Tips for implementing non-linear calculations that addresses more specific issues in terms of choice of finite elements, solution methods, quality of the results.

U2.04.03 Choosing the elasto-(visco)-plastic behavior which directs the user wishing to model materials with non-linear behavior of elasto-plastic or elasto-visco-plastic law to choose a suitable law for the considered modeling.

Concerning the contact, the reader may refer to the document U2.04.04 Operating Instructions for contact simulations
