Naming of versions

Operating versions

• stable : this is the production version qualified by EDF once a year for use in engineering studies. The Quality chart of Salome-Meca 2019 refers to that version. That version is currently identified as 14.4. In doubt about the version to use, that one should be preferred.

• stable-updates : this refers to the intermediate states between two frozen production versions. They bring only bug fixes and are updated continuously. These updates are numbered as 14.6.x. This version should be used only to test a fix for a blocking bug without waiting for the next half-yearly release.

• All the half-yearly releases of the production version are also available on the centralized cluster under numbered tags, the latest of which being 14.6.

Development versions

• testing : that version is a yearly frozen state of the unstable version (see below) which is provided within Salome-Meca 2019. That version is currently identified as 14.4.

• unstable : this refers to the intermediate states between two frozen development versions. They bring new features, bug fixes and are updated continuously. These updates are numbered as 15.2.x. This is the bleeding-edge version of code_aster that should be handled cautiously since it may break without warning and is continuously evolving. It should not be used for studies except in rare cases.

• All the half-yearly releases of the development version are also available on the centralized cluster under numbered tags, the latest of which being 15.2 (when its index is ".0", this is 14.4).

Unsupported versions

• oldstable : this tag refers to the previous major production version which is not maintained anymore and only the last release 13.8 is available on the centralized cluster.
